Potato is a mostly favourite vegetable for everyone.It is a root vegetable native to the America.The vitamin C in potatoes act as an antioxitend.These substances may prevent or delay some types of cell damage according to health institutes.Also potatoes are good source of pottasium.

Potatoes are rich in fiber content and that helps in easy digestion.Mostly in beauty side,potatoes place an important role.It is used as eye mask, which helps to remove the under eye patches,cool the eyes from radiation ofelectronic devices .Potato face mask can lighten the dark spots.Grated potato along with olive oil and honey can be used as a face mask.

Along with the health benefits,fried potatoes may also come with some potential negative effects, including weight gain,especially when consumed in large amounts.It is likely unsafe to eat damaged potatoes,green potatoes and sprouts.

Apart from the all, let us see the recipe of yummy masal bonda recipe.

Recipe From:My Mom

Serves: 4-5 people

Preparation time:10 mins
Cooking time :15 mins
Total time needed:25 mins

Ingredients:

For Batter:

*Gram flour/Besan/Kadalai maavu – 1 cup

*Rice flour/arisi maavu -1/2 cup

*Salt to taste

*Turmeric powder – 1/2 tsp

*Red chilli powder – 1 tsp (to your spicy level)

*Water as needed

*Asafoetide -1/4 tsp

For stuffing:

*Oil – 1 tbspn

*Onion – 2 to 3

*Potato -3 to 4(boiled and mashed)

*curry leaves -1 spring

*Green chilly -3 to 4(to your spicy level)

*coriander leaves/cilantro – for garnishing

*Turmeric powder – 1/4 tsp

*Cumin seeds -1/2 tsp

*Salt to taste

For deep frying:

* Oil (coconut oil is my preference).

Preparation Instructions:

1.Let us prepare the stuffing first.For that, heat oil in a kadai or frying pan.

2. Add cumin seeds and let it splutter.

3.Then add the finely chopped onions,curry leaves,coriander leaves and chopped green chillies and saute for a minute.

4.Add salt and turmeric powder and mix it well.

5.Add the boiled mashed potatoes and saute it until potato mix with the masala(approximately 2-3 minutes).

6.Let it cool and then divide into small parts and rotate it to balls and keep it aside.

7.Let us prepare the batter then.

8.In a bowl,add besan flour,rice flour,turmeric powder,salt,asafoetida,chilli powder.

9.Mix it well by using water without any lumps.

10.Batter must not be in watery consistency,should be little thick.

11.Heat oil in a kadai/frying pan for deep frying.

12.Dip the potato stuff balls in the batter to coat and put it in the heated oil.

13.Deep fry it until the balls changed into golden brown.

14.Keep the fried bonda in an oil absorbing paper towel.

15.Serve it hot.

Steps In Pictures:

1.Boil the potatoes.

2.Peel the skin from the boiled potatoes and

mash it.

3.Chop the onions finely and green chillies too.

4.Heat oil in a kadai/frying pan and add cumin

seeds.

5.Add the finely chopped onions,curry leaves,

coriander leaves and chopped green chillies

and saute for a minute.

6.Add salt and turmeric powder and mix it well.

7.Add the boiled mashed potatoes and saute

it until potato mix with the masala

(approximately 2 – 3 minutes).

8.Let it cool and then divide into small parts

and rotate it to balls and keep it aside.

9.In a bowl,add besan flour,rice flour,

turmeric powder,salt,asafoetida,chilli powder

or store bought bajji/bonda mix.

10.Mix it well by using water without any lumps.

11.Heat oil in a kadai/frying pan for deep frying.

12.Dip the potato stuff balls in the batter to

coat and put it in the heated oil.

13.Deep fry it until the balls changed into golden

brown.

14.Keep the fried bonda in an oil absorbing

paper towel and serve it hot.

Note of the dish:

1.Use coconut oil for deep frying,it will enhance the flavour and taste.

2.Batter must not be more watery to avoid the extra oil absorbtion.

3.Add the coated potato balls in well heated oil for deep frying.

4.We can also serve it with coconut chutney.
